RGC Round Robin Outreach at Hoag Library in Albion, October 27, 2015

RGC Group in the Library

Jim Doyle, a founding member of RGC and two of his guitar students met with six current members at the Village House Restaurant in Albion Tuesday evening for sociability and good food. The “happy hour” came afterwards at the Hoag Library where we convened in the very comfortable Lounge for another successful Outreach session. The staff was accommodating as always assuring us the opportunity to play in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere to a sizeable, receptive and engaged audience who were equally at ease in the cozy armchairs. When nearby classes were dismissed many of the attendees joined in the lounge to listen.

The repertoire ranged from Scott Joplin to Bach including some originals. The young man, Rohan Sorta who played an impromptu piece at our last event in May was also present, and we took the opportunity to prevail on his good nature to perform with us once again. Also representing the younger generation were Jim’s two students who skillfully played duets with their teacher. Our entire group joined in to play Jim’s arrangement of “Maid Colleen.” The event was reported in the local paper, Orleans Hub, the next day.

We look forward to accepting the library’s invitation to return in the spring for another round robin outreach.
